DMD Parking will still provide permits FOR FREE for persons who wish to pick them up in-person, as residents have always done. The new fees only apply to those wishing to use the online system.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The City of Albuquerque’s Department of Municipal Development (DMD) Parking Enforcement Division is implementing a new on-street parking permitting process in the limited number of neighborhoods where permits are required. On-street parking permits are now available online for a small fee to support the online service. Those who prefer to come down to the Parking Division and pick up their permit may still do so, and will not be charged.
Approximately 100 streets in 11 different Albuquerque neighborhoods utilize on-street permit parking to ensure residents have a place to park in front of their home. Neighborhoods near UNM, Downtown and near the State Fair are a few examples of where on-street permit parking is necessary.
The new fee structure in place for residents who prefer to use the online system is as follows:
- Residential Permits: $25/year
- Visitor Permits: $25/year
- Landlord Permits: $30/year
- Caregiver Permits: $5/6 month
- Contractor Permits: $5/day
- Moving Van Permits: $5/day
“In the past residents had to come to the parking enforcement office to renew their permits,” said Municipal Development Director Pat Montoya. “They can still do that if they want to, but for those who would prefer to skip the line or the in-person visit, we’re introducing a fee-based online system to get their permit from the comfort of their home.”
Each resident in an on-street permit parking district is able to receive 1 resident and 2 visitor passes or 2 residents and 1 visitor pass.
