Socially distant silent vigil in front of their homes
Please join Fair West Neighborhoods for a Black Lives Matter Vigil to show our solidarity and help keep the momentum for change at the forefront of social consciousness and continue moving toward a more just world.
On Tue, June 30, 2020, from 5 to 8 pm, participants are invited to Fox Memorial Park to obtain a “BLM I Care” paper heart to sign and tie on the fence of the tennis court. We will be distributing tea candles for the following day’s vigil. Neighbors are required to wear masks, and keep a social distance, and bring their own pen. There will be no gathering or speeches.
On the following day, Wed, July 1, 2020, at 7:00 pm, participants will come out of their homes for an 8 minute 46-second socially distant silent vigil by standing, kneeling, lying down, holding a candle, or any other method chosen to offer solidarity with the BLM movement.
After the 8 minute 46-seconds of silence, we ask that the participants Say their Names by reading names, in remembrance, of the black people killed in acts of racial inequality. We encourage participants to research these names and their stories before the event.
