What’s the plan with the park?
here’s the latest info we got from the parks dept. Thanks to Christian of Parks for the details!
Scope of Work
The current swing set will be replaced with a new swing unit featuring a blue shade cover.
Two new shade structures will be installed over the play area for ages 5–12.
One new shade structure will be added over the play area for ages 2–5.
A visual rendering of the new playground is included on the final page of this update.
The concrete barrier between the 2–5 and 5–12 age play areas will be removed to improve flow and visibility.
The current sand surfacing will be replaced with engineered wood chips, enhancing safety and accessibility.
An ADA-compliant ramp will be added to provide accessible entry to both play areas.
The court will be resurfaced with a new color scheme: red exterior, blue interior, and white play lines to match the updated playground color palette.
Existing benches will be retained and receive minor upgrades as needed.
Courts will be power washed and restriped with white lines to improve appearance and usability.
The existing kiosk will be replaced with a new one in complementary colors to tie in with the playground and court areas.

Neighbor Rob is organizing yard sales in the neighborhood for 9/13
From a recent email:
Good afternoon Fair West Neighbors,
On Saturday, September 13th Jena and I, along with a couple nieghbors on La Veta will be having yard sales on our block to take advantage of the increased traffic from the state fair. If you would like to join in on the fun, please let us know!
We will be advertising on social media (Facebook, Nextdoor, Craigslist, etc.) as well as putting up signs on Lomas, San Mateo, Copper and San Pedro. If you are interested in joining, we can help coordinate signage to directs traffic toward appropriate locations.
Please reach out and let us know if you are available and willing to also have a garage sale on this date!
In community,
Robert
Clean ups
A cleanup at madeira/domingo on 9/9/25.http://fairwestwork.com/9-9-25.html
We’ll do it again next Tues Sept 16th from 9 until 10
Neighbor Nikki has organized another cleanup for this Sat. Detailed copied from nextdoor.
Fairwest Neighbors:
We are having one hour Trash & Weed Cleanup this Saturday Sept 13th from 9 to 10am.
We’ll meet at the intersection of Madeira and Domingo.
This area is continually inhabited by the unhoused and is in need of a makeover.
Here’s your chance to help better our neighborhood.
This morning we picked up a lot of trash with just a few people.
Please bring gloves, black garbage bags, grabber tool, rakes, shovels and push brooms.
The bigger the turn out the less time we’ll be there.
This area of our neighborhood is desperately in need of help.
Next time we can cleanup another area in need.
See you Saturday.
