A HAWK signal, or High-intensity Activated crossWalK, is a pushbutton-activated pedestrian signal. The signal is being installed at the intersection of Lomas Blvd NE and Alvarado Dr. This type of signal provides a safer way for pedestrians and bicyclists to cross busy streets while reducing the amount of delay for vehicles. This is the first installation for the City of Albuquerque, but the HAWK has been used successfully in other communities since it was developed in Tucson in 2000. Learn more…
This week the Fair West neighborhood received a Little Free Library at the West entrance to Fox Park. The Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share. The library is filled with books for all ages so please check it out.
